Health and Safety
Old Datça is a calm and safe village. Still, a good holiday starts with being prepared — emergency numbers, health services and safe-visit principles are on this page.
Emergency numbers
Health services
A state hospital and family health centres serve in Datça town centre, just a few minutes from the village.
Pharmacies are located in the town centre. On-duty pharmacy rotas are posted in pharmacy windows and announced through official channels.
Safe visit principles
Forest fire awareness
Summers on the peninsula are dry and windy. Never light fires in the open and never discard cigarette butts.
Be prepared on the trails
Bring water, a hat and sun protection on the Carian Trail and village walks; stay on marked paths. The GPX files on our map and the GPS audio tour help you find your way.
Care at sea
Watch sea and weather conditions in the bays; do not swim out alone into unfamiliar waters.
Up-to-date information
For health facilities, transport and current local information, consult the Datça Tourism Information Office.
Disaster preparedness
Disaster and emergency management in Türkiye is coordinated by AFAD, the national disaster and emergency authority; in any emergency, the first number to call is 112.
During an earthquake, the national guidance is "Drop–Cover–Hold on": drop to the ground, protect your head and neck beside something sturdy, and hold on until the shaking stops. Afterwards, move to open areas away from buildings.
Official emergency assembly areas are signposted across Türkiye; your host or the local authorities can point you to the nearest one. For forest-fire risk, remember the 177 hotline and the open-fire rules on this page.
In an emergency, always call 112. Have a safe and wonderful stay!
